Meet Your Osteopath

  • Kathryn Parkin, Bsc Hons Osteopathy

I'm Kathryn, an osteopath with over 12 years’ experience helping people move more comfortably and confidently. Throughout my career I've worked in semi-professional sport, the NHS and private practice, treating people with a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions and movement challenges.

I'm committed to providing care that is both evidence-informed and tailored to the individual. Alongside regular professional development, I'm currently completing a PhD exploring professional practice in osteopathy. My research is partially funded by the General Osteopathic Council and The Open University, and reflects my passion for continually improving the care that patients receive.

No two people experience pain or injury in quite the same way. Whether your goal is returning to sport, enjoying long walks, keeping up with your children or simply feeling more comfortable in everyday life, I believe treatment should be built around what matters most to you.

My aim is to work with you to understand your symptoms, explain what's happening in a clear and straightforward way, and help you move towards your goals with confidence.

My approach

Your first appointment begins with a detailed conversation about your symptoms, your medical history and the things you’re finding difficult. Understanding how your problem affects your everyday life is just as important to me as understanding where it hurts.

We'll then carry out a physical examination to assess how your body is moving and functioning. I'll explain my findings, answer any questions you have, and together we'll decide on the most appropriate treatment plan. I believe the best healthcare is collaborative, so you'll always be involved in the decisions about your care.Treatment may include a combination of soft tissue techniques, joint mobilisation, stretching and, where appropriate and with your consent, joint manipulation. Every treatment is tailored to your needs and comfort.

Before you leave, we'll discuss practical advice and, where appropriate, exercises or simple strategies to help you continue making progress between appointments.

My goal isn't simply to reduce pain—it's to help you move better, feel more confident in your body and get back to doing the things that are important to you.
